Kept hearing issues that this causes performance issues to the Rust server. Any of that been addressed and fixed or is this plugin still a no go?

The performance issues really depend on how large your discord server is. The extension is getting a lot of work done for version 2.0.0 which will include a lot of improvements that should fix performance issues.

Rust Updates have no effect on Discord Extension performance. That all comes down to discord server size and how plugins are using the extension and the number of discord plugins you have. v2.0.0 is launching next week which lots of performance improvements as well.
