How to install on a docker?Solved

Well, i personally dont know too much about dockers and such as our dev/host is taking care of that but recently I tried to install Rust:IO just as Discord Core. Quickly I came to an dead end. No RustDedicated_Data/Managed is existing. I asked my dev if he could, build it in somehow as I might just have missing permissions to view folder x or y but he said those are actually just not existing while running through a docker. Now, we've been looking for a workaround for a while now but I finally came to the decision to just ask here.

Does anyone know how to install such extensions on a docker? Id be very grateful!

Sincerely,

-RustyMain

The installation would be the same for any OS, it would have to be under RustDedicated_Data/Managed which is a directory from Rust. If you do not have the server installed, that would be why that folder doesn't exist; otherwise it is a permission issue with your setup.
@Wulf the server actually has been up and running for a couple of months now. Everything seems to work fine and flawlessly like installing plugins etc. Just the RustDedicated_Data folder isn't existing. I also feel like it might be a permission issue as you said though our dev who has full access to the server files etc, says that the folder isn't existing. Heres a screenshot of my view for reference. https://i.imgur.com/CGv4vLS.png
There are definitely more files and folders than that, so yes, your dev is mistaken.

Thank you for your quick replies as always. On our old host (DSH) had a lot more folders for us to access aswell. Ill be talking to our dev again.

Cheers!

Edit: I forgot to add that whenever I ask my dev to add anything like the rustio dll or the discord dll, he answers with something similar to "we cant interfere with the source"

Unfortunately, extensions like this one have to be installed in that location; so if your host doesn't allow it or provide a method to do so, you won't be able to install it.
I see. That really sucks. Well, thanks again wulf ^-^/
@RustyMain
I know exactly what you're talking about. Had the same issue with the Discord Extension.
Not to suggest you should change, but I run my server with GameServers.com and they have a plugin page for updating the server and oxide, as well as a few others, one being the Discord Extension. They've been really good with communication too as Discord.dll was at v1.0.6 I simply sent them a message letting them know it updated to 1.0.7 and they quickly updated it. If it matters enought to you I recommend you check them out.

Now, there has been talks of the extension being updated into a plugin, so if that is still going to happen then just be patient and one day you might still be able to download the Discord plugin to Rust! Also, you menitoned trying to install Discord Core? That shouldn't be an extension, the plugin on this site works the same as every other. Just the Rust:IO(which I stopped using as it hasn't worked in a long time. Last I checked there was no one maintaining it), and Discord.dll(which again, should be changing to a plugin in the future).

Anyways hope that helps in any way. Good luck! :)
@HazeyDays I see. We used to be on dsh but went over to a more "private" host we knew through personal connections. A pretty small but decent host with lots of features and power just charging barely more what they personally have to pay. Earthvision. After talking to him about some things, he managed to work out a new docker which will be running through linux and such, resulting in discord.dll and rustio working (at least we hope so, nothing is speaking against it). Really appreciate your reply though, good luck on your rust journey! If you ever need anything I could possibly help with (you know from server owner/manager to server owner/manager ;)  ) hit me up !
@RustyMain Awsome, ok thats interesting. I always try to keep one eye open searching for better things. Was looking at all the server hosts in the beginning, and they were quite expensive. Wasn't willing to pay rediculous prices just to have a server I could customize on my own. Gameservers was the only "price I was willing to pay the moment" server. Only problem I have is the amount of memory you have to work with, scales with the server's population cap. I pay for a 50 person and only get up to something like 7-7.5GB(I already asked them about it and with asking they can give you 1-1.5GB extra, so I'm at my max now without paying for larger a larger poplulation server that I never even reach). There are also a lot of plugins I wish to use and I think at the moment I might have too many, so the server is constantly resetting itself. Large POI's are only available on server sizes over 4500 now(from 3500 before, and my server is 4000 at the moment). So it would be nice to have more memory to work with.

There's another server host out there (cant think of the name) that had more customization to the server(memory use, cpu use, etc.) but they don't have servers anywhere near me. I live in BC, Canada and the closest host on GS for Rust is Seattle. Though I did send them an email and they mentioned one day they would like to have servers further away from their main, so, that put me back to my main "server choice".

I'll have a look at Earthvision though and of course, if I ever need anything I'll take you up on your offer! (actually, I can think of something right now haha). I rarely have anyone come on to my server and the ones that do, have private steam profiles, or level 1. Others just came on to screw around. I know I could go onto Steam forums and elsewhere to promote the server but I'm actually still working on it and would like to set it up better before I do. Lack of motivation has been an issue the last couple years as well, part of which being because no one comes on to the server whom I can trust to give me feedback on how things are working. Same with my Discord server.

At the moment that "motiviation" is still not there(usually comes in waves, I'll come into a bunch of motivation and spend days on the server tweaking it/trying out different pluggins, etc. Then the motivation(short term memory) washes away and weeks, sometimes months go by before I get better at it again.

So that being said, thanks for the offer! My Discord User name is Yonder Gander#3127. Feel free to join and maybe we could get to know each other more if you're up for it.

Oh and fun fact! I love the notion of being a manager, so my Rust servers Discord is set up as if it were a business. Me being the CEO. Its fun. haha.

Anyways, hope to chat with you in the future:)

-Shaun

I feel you. Motivation really likes to just go elsewhere which makes it incredibly hard to do ANYTHING sometimes.

I sent you a friend request on discord btw ^^.

Id say before we unnecessarily spam this chat with off topic messages, lets just directly move over to discord, what do you think? Ill be happy to hear from you ^^.
