I have to keep granting perms to access the backpack everytime I load into the game and yes I did grant perms and saved it to the server config

It sounds like there's an issue with the permissions on your server not persisting, or being revoked by another plugin. Not an issue with Backpacks itself.

That still doesn't mean it's caused by this plugin. I have troubleshooted with people before when they had similar issues, and it always turned out to be a problem with their Oxide data being corrupt for certain groups or using a plugin like Backpack Upgrader revoking permissions.

There's nothing special about how this plugin does permissions. It calls Oxide the same way as all other plugins.

Which perms are you having to re-grant?

As a troubleshooting step, you can try creating a new Oxide group, adding yourself to it, and adding perms to that group. If the perms don't get revoked with that, there may be an issue with the group you tried with before.

I do have backpack upgrader, should I get rid of it as I don't think I have ever used it. (I thought that plugin was part of this plugin?)

Backpack Upgrader is an addon created by another dev. I haven't worked with them on its creation nor have I reviewed its design, so I can't say whether it works right or not. Try removing it to see if that resolves the issue.

U were right it was the backpack upgrader was the problem and I think it was also causing the backpack button problems (server saying not loaded but it was). Thanks for the quick response
