So I noticed the b button conflicts with the new gesture system is there a way to get around this? 

This is not an issue with this plugin. You can bind any key you want to open the backpack since it's just a console command. The b key is just the example in the Backpack docs.

I am still using it, you could try using the backpacks gui instead
