Re download the latest version and re-upload it. Maybe you hit a key inadvertently when you had the file open?
I used to get this error a lot with filezilla. I've switched to WinSCP and have not had this issue much at all.
That "error" happens when the plugin file was either modified wrongly, encoding changed, or uploaded to your server using an FTP client such as FileZilla that may have changed the file during upload. When uploading plugins, make sure that the encoding is not changed.
